‘Supplying for the Future' clearly identifies the actions the supply chain, under the aegis of the SBWWI, will be taking to ensure the future success of the UK water industry

Supplying for the Future was conceived by the SBWWI management committee, and developed through consultation and feedback from members and water company representatives,. It clearly identifies the actions the supply chain, under the aegis of the SBWWI, will be taking to ensure the future success of the UK water industry. It is, in effect, the supply chain's strategic direction statement.The importance of ‘Supplying for the Future' has been thrown sharply into focus by the recent draft price determinations announced by Ofwat. Water UK's response to the announcement included the following statement: ‘With Ofwat's decision (water company) balance sheets will get tighter. Profits will fall: borrowings will spiral and the industry's cash position will simply get worse.' In such restrictive economic circumstances, it is more important than ever that the supply chain finds its voice and highlights the very positive contribution it is making; ‘Supplying for the Future' provides the blueprint.
