Starpad | Model Form of Contracts | Manual of Working Practice
This document was produced in 1999 and 2000 as part of the Society of British Water And Wastewater Industries initiative to improve the level of performance in the UK Water Industry in the general field of leakage.
The use of Contractors for leakage and general water management work has been increasing in recent years driven by a need by the Water Companies and industry to reduce water losses whilst at the same time reducing overall operating costs. A wide variety of forms of contract have been produced, some good and some not so good. It was therefore felt that the production of a Model Form of Contract would be of benefit to Clients and Contractors and lead to improved overall efficiency in the industry.
The document recommends a Model Form Conditions of Contract, Specification clauses and Cost Schedules which whilst not being prescriptive, does form a Model for general use, and if used will provide a consistent approach which is user friendly.
